Extraordinary
Attention-Grabbing
Special

Extraordinary – Attention-grabbing – Special. These are a great bunch of words, aren’t they? After all, isn’t that how we want to feel? Each of those words describe what I want all my jewelry to say, from the very sporty earrings I wear to bicycle in to the decadent necklaces I don for a show.

As a fellow wearer of jewelry and beady things, I am here to tell you that I don’t put anything on me that I don’t like. For instance, red is not my color; I do not wear it—not in my beads and not in my clothing. Want to see my color palette? Open my bead box. I will tell you right now that the container for reds is extremely tiny, and the side for greens and purples is quite large.

It’s easy to open our closets for a quick look at what our favorite colors or styles are, but what does your bead box say about you? Are you a seed bead fanatic? Does the lure of lampwork call to you? Is your bead box so full of crystal that there’s no room for anything else? Or, do wire and tools capture the creator in you? What’s in your bead box that tells us about you? I want to know.

Issue 25 Summer 2010

summer 2010 cover

This issue of Bead Unique captures a diverse range of projects and applications. The materials list for the entire magazine is like a Santa’s shopping list: it‘s long. We have always had a wide range of projects in Bead Unique—just look at our tagline: Beads, Art Jewelry, Home Décor, and Fashion. And the application of beads and beading in those categories is just as diverse. There isn’t a place in my life where I don’t expect to find a bead of some sort.

If you’re looking for diversity, look no farther. The projects in this issue will have you soldering, playing with lampwork, making stringer, using wooden beads, crocheting flowers, hammering wire, deconstructing a baseball to make a bracelet, creating three-dimensional fabric beads, and BeadCycling™ old denim jeans. Here are the projects and features from this issue:
