Issue 20 Spring 2009
I love the fall and winter months when the land goes to sleep and the winter sweaters come out. But as we get closer to spring, the constant
wandering thoughts of "what's next?" in my bead world come racing into my head faster and faster! Spring for me is the fuel that
starts off a year of creative bead ideas!
We open the doors and breathe in the fresh air, touch the newest beads, and buy new clothes. Our eyes begin to see new sprouts outside and the COLOR of spring awakens our creative beings. This issue of Bead Unique is full of ideas to throw you into Spring Bead Fever!
This year, the pearl reigns supreme! What is a wedding
without pearls? There are not only many pearl projects in this issue, but also many beautiful pieces for the perfect wedding.
Kelli Burns' netted necklace is reminiscent of romantic Victorian days, and Kelly Russell's Everlasting Buttercups piece uses pearls in a funky way. Faux pearls can be just as acceptable, as in Lori Pate-Greene's beaded tiara.
The Fashion 411 stylista Laura Timmons shows us how trendy lace and crystal can be together with her project. Sport some daytime crystal beauty with Kathryn Bowman's Springtime Enchantment necklace,
or go high-tech glam with Nealay Patel's Steel Butterfly necklace.
The CRYSTAL CHIX CRUISE was a blast! Pictured with me in the Make Mine Beads Please column at left is Lorena Ruiz, winner of the free Crystal Chix Cruise
ticket! Check out our Bead Unique Community page (community.beaduniquemag.com) for a few photos from our trip.

She not only loved to get dressed up,
but she let me put all the beady
things I wanted on her!
I will miss her every moment.
