What's in This Issue
Beads for the Season

The holidays are fast approaching, and so is the chill in the air. I love this time of year. The changes are all around us: the weather, our wardrobes, and our bead choices. Whether you're attending a holiday party, a PTA meeting, or simply taking a trip to the grocery store, this issue has something for every occasion. Beki Haley’s Trois Brillants piece is just right for a fancy New Year's Eve party. Barbara Matthiessen has diverted from home décor to show us a very cool technique using Zap Cloth, a new medium you'll absolutely LOVE to work with. C. A. Therien introduces us to Pastucha Beads and shows us how to use millefiori cane in a very cool way. Kelly Russell will divulge many of her secrets to adding incredible color and patina to her PMC beads.

There is a slight geometric feel to this issue: squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles. If a long winter project is appealing, try Linda Hess' Retro Beaded Curtain. Or, if you're running away from the cold, look ahead to spring with Penni Jo Couch's Circling Dragonfly.

Meet Amy Miller, our new Next Generation designer! I was amazed at the creativity that is just shooting out of her fingertips.

Ready for an adventure? Mary Ellen and Diane Burke discovered and visited a wealth of bead shops in the last place they ever thought—Southcentral Alaska! Makes me want to go there just to relive their experience! To see the rest of their photo album, click here. Make a bead shop experience of your own right where you live, and then tell us about it!

Check out one of the fun, new columns starting with this issue: I NEED More Earrings! Yes, you read it right. NEED! I never seem to have a pair of earrings to go with this or that outfit, or just to go with that dress or those jeans. So, I decided to fix my NEED for more earrings! For each issue, the Bead Unique Girls will sit and make a pile of earrings, and then we will bring you instructions for the best pair from each girl. But, as far as I am concerned, you can never have enough earrings!

What kind of earrings have you made? Show us! WE NEED MORE EARRINGS!
