Beads are everywhere!

The inhabited world has always been full of beads. Perhaps more than any other single object, they have been meaningful to us as well as attractive, and useful as well as ornamental. Beads have clothed us or decorated our naked skin; they have served to differentiate our face
and body in order to set us apart from our enemies and mark us as one of our own people. They have been used as insignia of title, office, rank and prerogative. They haveen be endowed with magic, delegated to serve as currency, and treasured as wealth. Through it all,
we have simply enjoyed them.

Today, beads fit into all facets of life, from tempting trendy necklaces and bracelets to luxurious pre-assembled home-décor trims. The world of beads has blossomed to include clothing, quilting, crafts of all types, lampworking, ceramics, altered art, and home accessories. A source was needed that featured these kinds of things: traditional, vintage, contemporary and funky projects. This need led to the creation of Bead Unique magazine.

Bead Unique fills that void by offering beautiful, inspiring projects with clear directions and advice in a variety of categories— not just jewelry. It highlights projects for every room, every outfit, and every item. Sometimes the beads are all encompassing, becoming the surface and soul of a piece. Other times a bead is just a single accent—it’s not much, but without it the piece would be incomplete.

Premier Issue — Issue 1

Summer gardens, ocean waves, and the human spirit were some of our project inspirations.

You’ll also find that the magazine stretches beyond projects—the Beads in the World feature showcases an often overlooked outlet for beads; I Could Just Live Here! profiles addicting and innovative beading and beyond shops.

The mere act of organizing and touching beads brings an unspoken calm that we don’t understand, but dearly love. Anyone who connects with this idea will feel at home with Bead Unique. Its pages will always present ideas for using beads in all areas of our lives and home. Our hearts and eyes are drawn to them like the smell of night jasmine off the back porch. We want to breathe them in and make them our own. So please, breathe in deeply and enjoy!
