Summer 2008 Issue: If it stands still long enough, BEAD IT!
Issue Cover
Issue 17

I am one of those artistic types who love EVERYTHING CREATIVE. If you're anything like me, you do a multitude of innovative arts and crafts. (One of these days, we will do a HOBBY ROOM extravaganza to see whose room is packed more!)

Aside from beading, I have also been a tole painter for years. Florals were my favorites, and Roses were my flower of choice. There was a saying that went "If it stands still long enough, I
will paint ROSES on it!" Well, I am sure that that saying
communicates through to some of your own artistic endeavors. Although I still paint often, BEADS are in my hand more often than my paintbrush is. So the saying has just been transformed to "If it stands still long enough, I will BEAD IT!" The best exercise of this statement is to look at what is in your daily life and see how you can enhance it with a little thing called a BEAD.

You can count on Bead Unique to bring you a diverse range of Beads in your Life, and this issue is no different. The Peyote Lace project, by Teresa Meister, is delicate, enticing, and encased in peyote practice. Want a donut without all the calories? Try the Textured Amulet Necklace by Dana Peters on p. 58.

You all know how I love my pets, and dressing them for special occasions is the norm for me. See how Linda Hartung adorns her Bearded Dragon (yes, I said dragon) for special occasions in Pet Panache on p. 74. (I guess the Swarovski® Crystal on my puppy's toenail is not so unusual, after all!)

Summer is all about sundresses, bathing suits, and FISH! We have a whole sea of ideas, starting with the Coastal Breeze Necklace by Lori Pate-Greene on p. 52 and Christi Friesen's basic polymer clay fish pendant on p. 62—perfect for the guy in your life! Susan Barnes' What a Splash! necklace on p. 56 adds a summer coastal look to any outfit.

What would summer be without bare feet and beaded anklets? They are HOT and they are everywhere. Let Nikki Ryan walk you through four different anklet looks on p. 26.

Looking for a perfect bead-focused road trip to take with your friends? Read how three best friends' love for BEADS took them to New York City! Find out how they rolled Beads, Broadway Shows, Food, Shopping, and Laughter into one great trip. All I can say is...I WANT TO GO TOO!

What have you beaded lately that might be considered unusual? Send your ideas to editors@beaduniquemag.com and let us see!
