Issue 18 – Fall 2008
Like fireflies on a summer night, there are a few themes in this issue that just seemed to emerge in multiples as we put it all together:
BRACELETS! Keri Osczepinski shows us how to combine crystal and lampwork for a dramatic flair in three stunning bracelets, and the three Bead Unique Girls (BUG) show off their beading fun with dangly cha-cha-style bracelets.
BELTS! From Felt to Lucite to Faceted Glass, we have it all! The folks at The Hole Bead Shoppe have provided us with a multi-strand fall-colored belt adorned with Lucite leaves on p. 86, as well as an elegant black and silver version to accessorize a little black dress. Madeline Arendt has fashioned a felted belt to soothe the "earth woman" in you (see p. 84). Practice metal embossing skills with Carole Metz's belt.
LAMPWORK! As usual, we have a Beginning and Intermediate lampworking project, but for this issue, we have added a third! Pet Panache has a new twist: a lampwork project for your pet! (No, it isn’t a teeny torch for them to work on.) Turn to p. 48 to see how to make a lampwork glass slider to adorn a doggie collar!
FROGS! Yes, I said Frogs! For some reason, there just happens to be quite a few frogs who wanted to come and play on the pages of Bead Unique (especially in the gallery).
